Vote for Justice!

Updated: Jan 2, 2020

Appointing judges is a sacred duty tracing back to Biblical times when Jethro counseled Moses:

“Select out of all the people able men who fear God, men of truth, those who hate dishonest gain; and….let them judge the people at all times.” (Exodus 18:21 NASB).

Having God-fearing judges who believe in absolute truth is indispensable for any nation, any age, and any geographic location. As Isaiah 1:26 affirms, the righteousness of a nation (or city, county, region, or state) is based on its judges:

I will restore your judges as at the first, and your counselors [lawyers] as at the beginning; after that you will be called the city of righteousness—a faithful city. (NASB)

To date, President Trump has done an excellent job appointing this type of judge, and over recent months they have handed down amazingly bold decisions, restoring religious expressions and liberties that have been unknown in America for decades. Additionally, in less than 3 years, he has already appointed over 160 judges—the highest percentage of federal judges approved since George Washington, when 100 percent of his nominees were confirmed.[1]

President Washington stressed the importance of making good judicial appointments as a duty paramount to the country’s survival:

In assenting to the opinion that the due administration of justice is the strongest cement of good government, you will also agree with me that the first organization of the judicial department is essential to the happiness of our country.[2]

Unquestionably, Supreme Court nominations are vitally important, but the way President Trump is reshaping the lower federal courts can be of even greater impact. After all, only about 80 cases a year are heard by the Supreme Court, which is a mere 1% of total cases appealed from lower courts.[3] So there are a hundred times more decisions from lower courts, which means that there are many more of these decisions that affect everyday Americans.

The 54 million Americans living in the seven states out west are beginning to understand this.[4] That region is under the jurisdiction of the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, which has long been considered the most radical and anti-Biblical federal appeals court in the nation. But…

For the first time in more than three decades, Republican-appointed judges will soon occupy nearly half the seats on the left-leaning 9th Circuit Court of Appeals—dealing a setback to progressive legal advocates who have long seen the court as a safe bet for favorable rulings.[5]

Not only is that court currently beginning to turn, but President Trump just nominated two more judges to the Ninth Circuit, with the result that...abortion extremists started to feel the effects of the president's court-leveling when the Ninth Circuit refused to stop the administration's family planning rules from taking effect. In a shocking blow to Planned Parenthood's ego, the judges ruled 7-4 that HHS's rule stopping Title X grantees from promoting abortion could go into effect. Making the decision even more upsetting for liberals, two of the judges in the majority were Trump appointees.[6]

Our cities, states, and nation can be very different if we as Christians actively commit ourselves to elect to office those who will appoint constitutional conservatives as judges. If we do this, then …

Let justice roll down like waters, and righteousness like an ever-flowing stream. (Amos 5:24 NASB)

Whenever you vote for any individual in any election, always vote for those officials based on the type of judges he or she will appoint.
